Winston-Salem Ambassadors to hold 2nd Annual Meeting and Present Everyday Awards
Jan. 5, 2018 – On Fri. Jan. 25th, Winston-Salem Ambassadors is gathering at the Winston Cup Museum for its second Annual Meeting and Everyday Awards ceremony. President Mackenzie Cates-Allen and board members seek to acknowledge the hard work of everyone involved in the organization over the past year.
The luncheon event, open to the public, will include a recap of the year’s accomplishments, awards and a sneak peek at what’s to come for this young, thriving organization. Pat Ivey of NCDOT and Forsyth County Commissioners Tonya McDaniel and Fleming El-Amin will speak. Christy Spencer, owner of the Winston Cup Museum and retiring board member, was thrilled to offer the museum’s event space for hosting the special event. Spencer says deciding to serve on the board for the cities welcoming organization was easy.
“I got involved with the WS Ambassadors because I love the city of Winston-Salem. Being a native from here and watching all the growth and change in the past five years has been exciting! I wanted to actively be a part of an organization that was 100% geared to promoting our city and being inclusive to everyone.”
With a particular focus on growing their Ambassadorship program in 2019, the Winston-Salem Ambassadors will award the Presidential Award and introduce new board members to the community. “The Ambassadors believe that we are better together and we will be working on growing our collaborations this year.” Cates-Allen says.
Cates-Allen says the group has successfully held four quarterly workshops for the community, four community/music events and dozens of one-on-ones and small group meetings, presentations and tours. It’s been another busy year for us,” shared Cates-Allen, “and we’re excited about the opportunities on the horizon for next year.” Spencer agrees. “Our mission is pretty simple. We just want to tell everyone about our great city and get more people involved in our community.”
